Learning Skills and Work Habits
Let’s Change our Mindset!
Instead of Saying We will say:
I give up! I will keep trying.
I made a mistake! Mistakes help me learn.
It’s good enough! Is this my best?
I can’t do this! What am I missing?
I don’t get it! I need to try another way.
I’m not good at this! This will take more time
and effort.
Library
Day 3
The classroom teacher and the librarian will be working together to provide literacy units of interest to the students. Please make sure that your child returns all library books in a timely manner in order for new books to be checked out.
Health Education and Physical Activity
Day 5
Ms. Grossman will be teaching health education and physical activity. Please have your child wear appropriate clothing on gym day. Your child must have shoes that have white soles in order to protect our floors.
Swimming (Pool)
Day 1 & 4
Please ensure that your child brings the appropriate clothing to swim in the pool. All children are expected to participate.
Music
Mr. Millerd will be teaching music in the music room.
Day 1 & 3
The Arts
Day 5
The Arts include drama, dance and visual arts.
Important
Nutrition Snack Program
Please support our snack program. The cost is $75.00.
Technology
We have one classroom computer and seven iPads. Students are expected to login using their TDSB account. Please make sure that you and your child have read, signed and returned the internet form to your teacher, in order for your child to use the technology. Digital citizenship is paramount at school, at home and all of the time.
Classroom Birthday Parties
Being a “Sports & Wellness Academy,” we encourage children to make healthy choices. We also strive to be nut free and mindful of the numerous allergies in our classroom. Therefore, in loo of cake, baked goods and food, we are asking you to provide loot bags for the children if you wish to celebrate your child’s birthday within the classroom. Presently, there are 20 students in the class.
Clothing
Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather! We spend time outside every day. Warm weather: hat, jacket, running shoes. Cold weather: boots, winter jacket, snow pants, mittens, and hat. Running shoes are recommended on a daily basis. Please provide indoor shoes for your child. Choose shoes that your child can take on and off by themselves (e.g., velcro fasteners). Please refrain from purchasing black soled shoes, because they tend to mark our gymnasium floors.
Volunteers Wanted - Please call the school if you have any time to help in our classroom.
Our Classroom Needs:
•Kleenex
•Pencils
•Erasers
Thank you for your support!
